Taught a thing or two by an 11 year old.

It's been awhile since I added some thoughts to this site.   Since nobody said anything I'm assuming there probably aren't a lot of people other than Linda reading this.  It doesn't matter since somebody in the world might stumble onto this and find some of my thoughts interesting.  So what have I been doing the last three months other than sulking?   Well life goes on to the inevitable end so there's actually quite a lot to report.

I haven't talked to Steve (Linda's husband) since around Christmas, so I'm feeling kind of bad about that.   I should do a better job of keeping in touch.  Actually, I don't seem to be keeping in touch with a lot of people.   I need a kick in the you know where.

I've found myself busy staying involved with my family.   My daughter scored first class with honors in her Royal Conservatory of Music Theory exam.  I was so proud of her.  Then she came home with straight A's on her report card.   She has yet to beat me in a game of chess but she almost took me to a stale mate last time out.   My next task would be help in arranging a student exchange and polish up on my French.

Music I'm listening to include various jazz and classical pieces and then the grade 3 to 5 Sunday school in my church sing some songs recorded by Hillsong Kids.  A song that has caught my attention is "I'm not ashamed".  I've gone and bought the CD and intend to learn to play those songs on guitar.   My daughter wanted a couple of songs by a group called Switchfoot and a group called Toby Mac.   I downloaded them and decided they were okay for her so went out and bought the CDs.   For those of you in midlife crisis age bracket and can still appreciate a good rock album, I would recommend the CD Portable Sounds by TobyMac.  I'm glad the CD comes with a booklet with all the lyrics.   But all the songs were thought provoking and the last song, "Lose My Soul" turned out to be a prayer that moved my own heart.  It also put my obsession with cars into perspective.

Speaking of cars, there are two MINI clubs to get involved with in my area.  Last week, there was a fish n chip run in which 20 cars drove together to Pajo's for fish n chips and then a sight seeing drive for picture taking opportunities.   At one place, the police dropped in to see what was going on just to make sure we weren't doing anything illegal.   He paid particular attention to Gary's car which was slightly modified in appearance.   But all was good and we all had a great time.  Now to find some time to put he Fiero on the road and take off somewhere with Westcoast Fieros of BC.

Anyways, it's spring.   Hay fever season is back and we look forward to a great year of activities.

Thanks for reading.
