    Getting old

This past month saw the passing of one of my best friend's dad.  I went the funeral.  Mr. Mar was a great example to most of us in that he had great business ethics, raised a wonderful family and lived a full contented life.  He was generous and never envied what others had.   I don't think I ever saw him get angry at anybody.   Even when others were less than honest with their dealings with Mr. Mar, he was never vengeful.  Always content with what he was blessed with.  His family also display the same sort of personality that I would aspire to have in myself.   I am blessed to have known him and continue to enjoy great friendship with his family.

At the same time, my wife's uncle was diagnosed with terminal cancer of the pancreas.  My wife had made an emergency trip to the Philippines to visit with him.  Of all her uncles, Joseph is her (and my) favourite.  He was the uncle who always met us at the airport and made sure we had a place to stay whenever we visited the Philippines.  It is sad that my wife has to visit under these circumstances but wanted to see him alive than attend a funeral.

We are at the age where our parent's generation are now leaving us.  I wonder what I would feel when my own parents go.  I hope they are proud of their legacy and that I and my brother live up to what they had wished for.

James Bond drives a MINI Cooper S....really!

This past weekend, I attended Rallye in the Valley.  It's a car Show n Shine of British cars.  Of note, the winner of the BMW_MINI category was owned by a guy who goes by the name Jim.  Then when you look at his registration, he used his formal name of James Bond.   His name really is James Bond but he looks nothing like anyone I saw in a TV movie.   But his car is fully worthy to be a bondmobile.  It was slightly tweaked.  But the licence plates didn't have 007 on them...nor did the car have ejector seats, guns, cannons or any of the Bond fun stuff on it.   I'll post photos of the the trip once I figure out which ones are getting published in MC2 (a magazine).  I don't want to post pix until after they are published.

Arriving home from a weekend of driving around mountain highways, we found our refridgerator to be not up to snuff for the recent heat wave that hit our area.   So I find myself refridgerator shopping.  Anybody out there shopping for major appliances, remember to take a measuring tape and measurements of where your stuff is going to be.  I find myself limited in size of refridgerator I can buy (and a good thing too) and refridgerators run from around $700CDN to well over $3000.   Me, I'm not getting a bottom level plastic everything refridgerator, but will get a mid-level one running in the just over $1000 range.

Speaking of heat, a few nights ago, I was up late watching TV when I heard a loud crack.  Coincidentally, a neighbor was outside taking out the garbage.  The next day, I noticed that on of our windows had cracked due to heat expansion.  Once again, I find my house falling apart on me.  I wonder if there's anybody out there that just replaces class anymore.

    Cheers!
